The renowned Wihan Quartet, which is celebrating 40 years since its founding, entered the world concert stage by winning the International String Quartet Competition in London in 1991, having already won first prize at the Prague Spring International Music Competition three years earlier. It has enjoyed success not only in Czechia, but also in Europe, the Far East, Japan, the USA, Australia, and New Zealand. In Great Britain, it has been nominated three times for the Royal Philharmonic Society Award. It is a laureate of many international competitions. It was recently the resident ensemble at London’s prestigious Wigmore Hall. Its discography includes over 40 CDs.
