After the application deadline

Dear friends of the violin and Jaroslav Kocian,

With joy, I announce that we have received 59 applications from young violinists for this year’s edition. We are pleased to see a renewed increase in interest in the Kocian Violin Competition.

16 competitors represent the Czech violin school, but the international participation is rich, representing the following countries: Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia, Germany, Luxembourg, France, Switzerland, Ukraine, Turkey, Mongolia, Japan and USA, thus another 12 countries worldwide. The Mongolian participation is an absolute surprise, comprising an incredible 15 competitors this year!

The competition will proceed according to the plan from Wednesday, May 1, to Friday, May 3. On Thursday afternoon, there will be a seminar for teachers, followed by an evening concert featuring the last year laureate Milan Kostelenec with the Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra of Pardubice. On Saturday, we will meet in the new ceremonial hall of the town hall, and the entire event will conclude with a Concert of the winners and the laureate at the Roškot Theatre.

The entire competition program is framed by the Kocian’s Ústí Music Festival, to which you are warmly invited!

I wish you good luck in preparation and I look forward to meeting everyone in Ústí nad Orlicí.

On behalf of the organizing team,
Lenka Lipenská
