Dear Contestants, Honored Friends of Jaroslav Kocian,
We have received an incredible 82 applications for this year’s Kocian Violin Competition. We are delighted that Ústí nad Orlicí, the birthplace of violin virtuoso Jaroslav Kocian, will welcome musicians from all around the world. In addition to 21 violinists from the Czech Republic, we expect participants from 20 other countries, including Slovakia, Poland, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Germany, France, Belgium, Norway, Finland, Lithuania, Estonia, Mongolia, Turkey, South Korea, China, Taiwan, Japan, the USA, and Mexico.
The unprecedented interest in the competition has taken us a bit by surprise, but where there’s a will, there’s a way! To ensure that every performance is heard with full attention, we will extend the competition days starting from Tuesday, May 6. Our organizing team is working on a revised schedule to create the best possible conditions for all contestants.
